It was after midnight when Matthew Leone stepped out the front door of his brother's condo's complex and heard the woman's screams.
"He's going to kill me," the woman yelled. "Please, someone help."
The 500 block of North Noble Street, lined with maple trees and new town homes in a middle-class section of the West Town neighborhood, might seem an unlikely place to witness a beating. And Leone, a rock musician with tattoos and spiky hair who stands 5-foot-6 and weighs 118 pounds, seems an even less likely hero.
